Hi Everyone,

Sandra & Fiona here – thanks for stopping by!

How we met

A little bit about us … we met on Tinder and have been a couple since May 2018 after a few (or just one?) right swipes on Tinder. Luckily Fiona was willing to drive 200 miles for our first date (that’s totally normal, right?) and things moved rather quickly from there.

On our second date we booked our first holiday together: Island hopping in Greece! And on our third date we contemplated travelling the world together. Crazy? Maybe. But so far we’ve been having the best time of our lives and haven’t looked back 🙂

How we ended up on an Adventure Motorcycle

Our first Adventure Motorcycle was a BMW F800GS. Sandra initially bought it for a 3 months road trip across the USA. However, with Fiona in the picture, the motorcycle was soon destined to travel from Alaska all the way to Patagonia.

But sadly things don’t always go to plan! Sandra ended up in a head-on motorcycle collision just weeks before their intended departure and landed herself in hospital with four fractures to her pelvis. After a few weeks in a wheelchair and a few more on crutches Sandra could walk again. But she was certainly not ready to ride two up, fully loaded across the Americas. So the road trip had to be put on hold and the motorbike put into storage for nearly a year 🙁

When nothing goes to plan …

But there was no way we were going to spend our winter in the UK after quitting our jobs! So instead, we decided to fly out to South East Asia. There was a lot of physio involved but also a ton of fun!

Like island hopping in the Philippines, chilling in Bali, soaking up the sun in Thailand, getting lost in the temples of Angkor Wat, discovering northern Vietnam is pretty chilly in winter and escaping subsequently to spend a month in magical Myanmar.

How this turned into a full-on RTW motorcycle adventure

In March 2019, after, without a shadow of a doubt, the best winter of our lives, we were finally ready to fly out to the USA to pick up the bike and start our journey. Neither of us had ever done any Moto Travel before but we instantly fell in love with it. And before we even reached South America, it was decided: WE ARE GOING TO RIDE OUR MOTORBIKE AROUND THE WORLD!

Travelling during a pandemic

One year into our trip Covid-19 would mess up our plans significantly. But it also brought a lot of opportunities with it! Yes, our bike and pretty much all our possessions are still stuck in Colombia. But we still managed to do some travels closer to home with the support of Triumph Germany.

Triumph generously allowed us to ride their brand-new Tiger 900 Rally Pro across Germany & Austria and enter the Adventure Ride Competition (ARC) with it. We made many new friends and were able to meet up with other round-the-world ADV riders who also temporarily returned to Europe. After a pretty awesome summer, we spent the winter working on our new website, sorting through a ton of photos and editing countless hours of travelling footage to start our YouTube channel.

New Adventures on the Tiger 900 Rally Pro

In February 2021 we flew back to the UK to ride the Tiger 900 Rally Pro across England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. We are also going to explore what the TET UK has to offer as we miss off-road riding terribly. Fiona will finally take her motorcycle license. And by the end of this year we are hoping that we will be able to continue our round-the-world trip!!

Sandra’s Story

I was born in Germany but moved to the UK when I was 16 years old. After spending a few years living in Devon & Cornwall studying, but mostly surfing, I moved to London. The next 10 years I was working for various consulting firms in IT & Finance. I used every opportunity I had to travel, but the more I travelled, the more I realised how little I had seen and just how much there was out there to explore.

In Dec 2017 I finally quit my job, popped my flat on AirBnB and decided to travel the world. I have always had a strong passion for travelling but I would have never dreamt of doing it on a motorbike. In London I used to get around on my 600cc Suzuki Gladius but I rarely rode it for more than an hour. I knew nothing about Adventure Bikes and it certainly wouldn’t have occurred to me that I could enjoy riding off-road one day.

One day I had this awesome idea of doing a roadtrip across the USA on a motorbike. Then I met Fiona and suddenly this little road trip turned into so much more. The longer we spent on the road, the longer we wanted to keep going and by now we have totally accepted that we won’t be stopping anytime soon.

I wake up grateful every morning for the opportunity of being able to travel and live my dream. Sure, I gave up a good job, a nice home and of course I’ve had to make significant adjustments to my lifestyle. But I never regretted my choice once.

So here we are, I’ve travelled to over 65 countries and I haven’t even seen half of what’s out there … I’m still learning to travel slower, travel lighter, pick up more recipes from around the world but I never forget to be grateful for all the beautiful things we get to see and all the amazing experiences we get to have!

Fun Fact

Sandra doesn’t have a car driver’s license. She’s also the worst passenger and completely shuts down if you plonk her in a car!

Fiona’s Story

I grew up in the UK and spent 9 years working, mostly as a Health & Safety Manager within utilities. And yes, I can’t help but shake my head when I see some of the questionable practices around the world – Europe included!

I love travelling but mostly I’m a complete adrenaline junkie who is always looking for the next thrill. I’ll happily jump out of a plane, or bungee jump anywhere around the world. I love music and miss being able to play the piano or guitar on the road but I always make sure we have an awesome playlist with us and have even developed a dance routine on the bike.

I’m also a big foodie and can get a little hangry when provisions are running low. I love to discover a new tasty dish and then reminisce about it, even if it’s just some delicious street food we had somewhere.

After riding two up for over a year I finally decided to take my motorbike license. So far I’ve done some off-road riding on dirt bikes in Idaho and the Netherlands. But will I continue to be a pillion or get my own motorcycle next? Watch this space to find out more !

Fun Fact

Fiona can deadlift 110kg – guess who gets to pick up the bike every time it drops?
